You might’ve thought that the S rank is the highest but in reality, the highest rank you can achieve in the drops is the S+ rank. To get that there are a few tricks that i want to share with you to help you achieve that Perfect Score.
#1 Don't buy items when starting a Drop
You will see in the end screen that the remaining items give you points and contribute to the final score, and some of these items give a very high score (Mirrostone). Sadly what you buy doesn’t contribute to that score as i once bought almost 99 of each in hopes that i will definitely get the S+ rank but i actually got a lower score.
#2 Always be ready for Echos (Traces & Specters)
Always be ready and quick to press the R2 to bring your camera up and take photos of these Echos and Specters as the pop-up for seconds. Capturing their photos fast and them being inside the photo frame will net you higher points.
#3 Gather and Save
Try to search every corner and pick up every glowing item as the more unused items remaining after finishing a drop give you more score since each remaining item has a specified score, where mirrostone gives you the highest score.
So try to doge as much as you can and be very careful of the ghost hand when picking up items, the fewer health items you use the better your score will be as there will be more items remaining at the end of the drop. The same goes for films as well so try to use the infinite films if you can.
NOTE: i noticed time it takes you to finish the drop is irrelevant to your score, so spend as much time exploring as you can.
#4 Beat more ghosts, do combos and get ghost glances.
As i said time is irrelevant to your score so use the time in finding random ghosts and beating them, if you have more than one ghost in front of you then try to get a combo. When a ghost is dead try to get close to it and Glance it. All these will give you more score points.
I used reward lenses, infinite films at the beginning to save films, and then stronger films for critical hits (5 circles) or for finishing the ghosts off.
There are many random ghosts in each drop and they repeatedly pop-up in front of you, even sometimes when you are waiting they will just show up, so if you failed to get the S+ the first time then spend a little more time the second time you are playing this drop and search for more ghosts to finish off.
NOTE: Make sure you doge and avoid getting hit as there is no point in racking up points by finishing the ghosts and then losing points by using the healing items (Sacred Water…etc)
#5 Find and upgrade the lenses (Reward Lens)
There are many lenses that can be found in the game and you can equip three at a time on your camera that can be switched on the go.
There is the Crush Lens that deals more damage or the Reward Lens that gives you more points for each shot.
So find these lenses and upgrade them to max for maximum utilization, it will take time but its worth it.
#6 Fatal Frame Shot
This shot is your main friend, this shot deals the most damage (critical) and saves you from getting attacked. Normally to deal a critical shot you need to have 5 circles in the frame but for a Fatal Frame shot you don’t need all that, except for the right conditions. You can perform a Fatal Frame Shot when the ghost is about to attack you, you will hear the beeping sound as well as the red camera circle flashing, this is your indication to continously press the camera shot button to deal maximum damage and i generally combine this with the Reward Lens.
All you have to do is slightly hit the enemy but make sure your camera shot is loaded and ready, wait for the ghost to attack you, and then immediately use the camera shot when the circle is flashing.
